February is here! The 1st Retrograde-free month in a loooong while.
The remainder Aquarius Season sizzles with Water-Bearer planetary play and the Aquarius New SuperMoon on February 9th (my birthday!) is slated to be unexpected, bold AND cosmically brash…
But first, a little love note and a sexy offering! As an Editor who works closely with other Aqua Suns, I’m sending extra solar return wishes to Sapphic Designer and Murda Hill - both integral to The Femme Moon since its incarnation - and much love to the multiple Aquarians involved in our zines and Symposium poetry parties, especially Anya Gibson of Three of Swords ATL. We absolutely have a homebase in Aquarius!
February 1st is Imbolc in the Wheel of the Year - a midway point between the Dark of Winter and the Light of Spring - and a stirring of the Goddess from her womb-like hibernation. Despite the frigidity in the Northern Hemisphere (though not too bad in ATL by any means), we’ve seen glimpses of early Spring. Though false starts undoubtedly, we know renewal is on the horizon, enlivening our imaginations for warmer-month romps ahead. Imbolc and the wintry lovers’ fete of Valentine’s both speak to coming alive again, rejoining the World, mingling and finding pleasure, with a dose of patient desire.
Seedlings shall soon burst forth in the Sun’s kisses as the Earth prepares to transform into a divinity of bloom and green where fertility and, more specifically, sexuality intertwine. In honor of this re-awakening, our Art Nouveau-inspired poetry + potions zine, The Sensual World, will make a brief re-appearance for February 14, an offering for those who wish to artfully romance the senses with practical but magickal application of aphrodisia.
The Sensual World is available for pre-order until 2/14, US orders only.
Some find Valentine’s in Aquarius Season strange. The Water-Bearer is known to be detached and analytical to an extreme, an icy island as discussed in the Leo-Aquarius Full Moon Axis Muse. But for all the malarkey re: Aqua’s weirdo-ness, once an Aquarius allows nearness, reservation expands into all-encompassing interaction. Inner circle sweethearts know that when Aquarians let someone close, it is a sacred bond.
WHAT: Aquarius New Supermoon
WHEN: Friday February 9 - 6PM EST
THEME: Observation > Action, Experiencing Emotions as a Treat, Actualize with Purpose
Aquarius Season is a time of mental transformation, an atmospheric terrain of thought. A Lunar Aquarius has a verve for eccentric perspective with artistic interpretation, refreshing and/or uncomfortable depending on your own attachment to your views. With February’s multiple planets in Aquarius, possibility is ALL AROUND US; chaos could likely abound as well while uncontained planetary energies are impossible to keep at bay.
Furthermore, the Aqua Sun and New Moon will be intensely and tightly squared with Uranus in Taurus.
Uranus is Aqua’s Ruler, appropriately, as both link with technology and innovation. Uranus in square-mode, however, can shock with unpredictability, forcing us to be more innovative than we’d like. Uranus in the Sign of Taurus against somewhat avoidant Aquarius creates flight-mode, a freak-out to free ourselves from SOMETHING (what? It might not be so clear!). Some may experience bad news with this Square and KNOW the very source that is dying to transform; the Uranus in Taurus aspect may influence us to become dead-set on dramatically changing a life path or facet of life we are unsatisfied with. Both approaches can be a slippery slope without review.
Aquarius is an Idealist yet also a Deconstructionist. Aquarius wants to see the Whole Truth, nothing but the Truth.
The Oeuvre of the Aqua New Moon:
IDEAS, always ideas! Maybe so many ideas it can be impossible to keep up! New Moon time is ripe for looking ahead. Jotting down all the things that dreamily saunter through before they slip away may reveal a goldmine, realization or new path. Be ready for SuperMoon downloads. It’s also okay to let some of them go. EXPERIENCE this Moon! It’s a missed opportunity to cave into strict expectations. Aquarius wouldn’t want that.
Not everything is as it seems. With the shakeups of the Uranus Square, we may have fearful motivation OR inspired desire to take action when faced with a sudden surprise. The pressure to act upon anything and everything may be tested. If making a change feels centered, think about where and how you want to begin. Are there any measurable ways to test the waters without catastrophically rearranging our entire lives? Grateful for this New SuperMoon’s gusto, but making the intention to be intentional will always serve the long-term.
What you focus on grows. I view Aquarius as an architect, though the space-case cliche can be true AND so can the genius mad scientist. Veering into the Dark Side is easy for overthinking Air Signs, worsened by Pluto in Aquarius. Ruminating assumptions can quickly pivot into doom-and-gloom black holes of Hell, fatalist prophecies awaiting. Being mindful to focus on solutions - and not just the problem - keeps us on track. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a wonderful avenue for those of us who lean to the negative; this psych practice can help re-program our entire thought processes and navigate life assertively.
Not all has to be defined. Gaining access to our inner lives with curiosity is a mega-power. Of course, introspection is needed to identify the complexities of our feelings, motivations and desires especially if they are up against external dramatics and tragedies that make us want to close-in or give-up at times. Re: the Uranus Square specifically, Fixed Air and Fixed Earth energy can be a standoff where judgment of a situation or person is grabbed at to gain control. When we force ourselves to compartmentalize or pathologize others strictly or definitively, we make it harder on ourselves to grow, soften and seek through hardships. Allowing evolution means being open to changing your opinion, especially when presented with other views or the healing powers of time.
Say “no” to toxic spirituality. It is so annoying that Aquarius is portrayed as “hippie dippie” though the mind-wandering and humanity-advocating similarities track. Aquarius is curious about the overall structure of our society and isn’t satisfied with the bullshit presentation of operations. Getting real about classism, oppression and privilege is humbling but can help us find purpose towards care and justice. What are the ways in which we benefit or are harmed from powerful societal entities? How do our identities relate to the larger picture? In what ways can we use our efforts to add to the greater good instead of protecting our egos?
Innovation and introspection are the strong suit for the Fixed Air Sign, meant for progress and not a pity party ;) When we approach emotions with interest and inquisition instead of intensity and annoyance, we have a better chance of finding solutions whether they be the hardest truths or situations that may look burdensome at first glance.
Remainder February Aquarius Transits:
2/4 - 2/22 Mercury in Aquarius shows us innovative ways to communicate, most welcome in this time period of imaginative renewal and slow but progressive reconnection.
2/5 Mercury in Aquarius conjunct Pluto in Aquarius will be excellent for communication but can be misused! Beware of propaganda or convincing but twisted truths.
2/12 - 3/22 Mars in Aquarius moves us forward with motivation to do it “our way” (though not so much with an afterthought of everyone else hitting the highway, Aqua’s down with lots of directional options).
2/14 Mars-Pluto Conjunction in Aquarius gives Valentine’s revolutionary energy but could spell out tragedy or aggression re: techno-militarism.
2/16 - 3/11 Venus in Aquarius redefines beauty in the intricacies of idiosyncrasies, conjoining Pluto in Aquarius on 2/17.
The Moon Muse is very much a place for me to breakdown the Lunar affect on our emotive currents especially as they relate to our icks and ills, joys and the dreams, collectively and individually, and feeds and eases my Aqua tendencies tremendously. Thank you for being here - I’m absolutely appreciative of all the paid subscribers who have supported the Moon Muses especially and anyone who has bought zines or merch.
amazing, thank you!
