Scorpio as the archetypical Femme Fatale, the Sorceress, the Seductress savors source from a darker story-line sprung from society’s ills.
Like Persephone’s own descent into the Underworld as a spiritual, sensual embrace of the Shadow, Scorpio owns her place in the Darkness. Fixed Water feels the hard truths, though is analytical in assessing potential possibilities. As mused from the Scorpio Mood board, Scorpio is: An anarchist with a blade that slices through the veil of deception. Independent and does not ask for forgiveness or directions. Soulful but selective, smart as a whip, secretly a softie. Allergic to the ingenuine, fine-tuned to detect anything fake. Personality, alluring yet ominous; heart, treasured only by the VIP worthy; mind, a strong brew of quick-wit. Masters of weaving protective webs…
Scorpio wants control of their narrative, despite the desire to share space when they feel safe. Often comfortable in the skin she’s in, strategic in her choices (without announcing either), Scorpio’s silent leadership knows no bounds. I’m NOT an Astrologer, just a Moon Witch lore-lover, and I’ve no knack for predictive astrology BUT as a lifelong pattern-noticer and avid internet wormhole researcher, Scorpio is not shy about complexity. However, to soak in the seriousness of it all, like the upgraded ‘90s teen witch in TV and film that enchanted my imagination, with new magickal powers and a grave responsibility to others (uh hm, the current Aries-Libra Nodal Axis)…
Scorpio has to embrace the Shadow to get to the other side.
Doomed with VERY DIFFICULT DECISIONS and unfavorable outcomes whatever path taken is a plot arc too familiar to Scorpio’s savors in the Shadow realm. Scorpio’s unfortunate duty to truly soak in the external AND internal struggle to its core is more relevant than ever before. As a U.S. citizen + Aquarius Sun with strong social responsibility, the deep anxiety and helplessness that the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election dumps on our doorsteps is unlike any I’ve experienced in previous political campaigns. The insane debates online, in person, in my own head about what “lane to pick” (as if there are just 2 even though the 2-party system really does its damnedest to limit us) has been hoovering over like a star-spangled wraith, the Pluto in Capricorn curse hanging on to its last shred of life by preying on others.
I loved Devo as a teenager and can’t help but think of “Freedom of Choice” and the song’s commentary re: the programmed illusion of autonomy in a consumerist hellscape. The Coke vs Pepsi debate that are the “options” of a limited 2-party system, two sides of the same coin. "In ancient Rome, there was a poem about a dog who found two bones. He picked at one, he licked the other, he went in circles 'till he dropped dead." Voting alone is barely a scratch to the civic duties we can utilize in communal consciousness but it is absolutely the main marketing scheme of impending importance in the next few days. Emphasis on THE OUTCOME reigns as we fester in the Dem’s disgusting “aid” of Israel and their complicity of Palestinian genocide. On the other side we have total denial of realistic threat and immense control over freedoms with eradication for systems of care. But my focus is that the Democrats hear the dissent and do nothing. It’s a harrowing, horrifying position to put the public in.
Loud and clear, we know that choice comes with consequence.
The worst reminder, too, to quote Rush, is that “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”. The prior Taurus-Scorpio Lunar Nodes harshly honed on resources; Scorpio Season’s universal prompt of “life is not fair” factions loudly now. It’s impossible to NOT think of the ways resources are affected by our choices, one example being healthcare under threat with Trump, including but not limited to abortion rights, ACA, HRT access, each which are associated with autonomy, freedom and quality of life. I believe healthcare is a human right to be protected… Does this mean I must vote for the “opposite” who is actively facilitating genocide to ensure healthcare resources remain? Supporting genocide also goes against my belief system.
No matter how we choose, we are all complicit. We all have blood on our hands.
Over a year of American-funded genocide of Gaza, we the People are put in the disgusting position to protect our rights IF we also support powers wiping out entire lineages of Palestinian families. The fact that George W. Bush is expressing more ethics than Libra Sun/Aries Moon Kamala Harris re: arms embargo is *MIND BLOWING* (granted Bush is now an immigration rights and amnesty advocate, critical of Harris’ ICE dealings during her VP term). Various Republicans supporting Harris over Trump indicates she is more to the “right” than any Dem Presidential candidate ever before; it could also indicate Trump is so batshit that prominent members of the Republican party don’t want him to have presidential power again.
It is possible for information to indicate many differing ideas as much as short clips on Instagram would have us believe otherwise.
Darling detective Scorpio never sees ONE sole thread, acknowledging that rarely will there exist a full-on decision we can be 10000% sure of. While Dems produce mass death and dangle our rights over us to secure a vote, the Future itself looks grim. I voted for a 3rd Party Presidential Nominee, even with my mammoth healthcare and climate change concerns. I know a 3rd Party candidate will not win NOW, but considering my county/state statistics, I opted for a strategy of significance, that a 3rd Party will be counted to receive public funding for 2028. Yet huge fears remain for me on so many levels regarding what will be taken away from us in the next 4 years. There is no way to participate (or not participate) that will not result in some regret, some base not being covered, some situation unfolding, some inevitable apocalyptic horror story ahead. There is no praying it away.
WHAT: Scorpio New Moon
WHEN: Wed. November 1st, 2024 8:47 AM EST
THEME: Dealing with Disempowerment
Conjuring confidence in conviction is no easy task when none of the options or their likely outcomes align with our ideals. We all come across a situation at least once in our life where our moral compass has found itself at the most fucked cross-road and no choice can be rectified in any logical or emotionally compelling way whatsoever. Often defeat shows up as succumbing to stagnation or fostering a fake-it-til-we-MAYBE-make-it attitude in hopes to get to a semblance of a desired destination. We ignore what has become collateral just so we do not fall into a pit of despair, shame and guilt gnawing at our limbs. Some stick to icon-worship, football team enthusiasm, who is better “liked”. Others build opinions on soundbytes.
Many of us aim for harm reduction, hope for change, weigh how to organize in one unknown future environment over another we’ve already suffered under. We have no idea exactly how our choices play out, instead counting on past patterns, assumptions based on old blueprints, and throw the dice to see if the unknown outcome will or won’t be similarly carbon-copy. Decision-making can feel grotesque in its pressure. Life is oxymoronic in its own hypocrisy; we as humans hold multitudes and will tend to contradict ourselves at some point in time. But we can not hide from the truth or run from the ways we contribute to pain if we want the world to be better.
The veil is thin and so is my patience.
As an advocate that there is no spiritual practice without note of how the political is personal, Scorpio’s savors in the deepest waters of our most tender and terrifying emotions is honestly the perfect contender to deal with a subject like consequences. Though the Scorpio New Moon is less raw than the Aries Super Moon (almost eclipse), the same theme of processing without clean means of overcoming is clear. Some situations can not be tied up neatly. There is no ignoring how much we’ve been entrenched in the enmeshed Libra South Node versus the Aries North Node as the classic "Hero's Journey" in the past year but especially poignant in the recent Autumn Eclipse Season. As whispering echoes of war grow louder, we can either make decisions with fear or hope. Scorpio urges us to seek solace not in strife but in compassion's embrace, but one can not do that without first seeing the horrors that prey on the world thru a scrutiny unmatched by any other Zodiac Sign.
Shrouds of the Scorpio New Moon:
10/28 Venus in Sagittarius squares Saturn Rx in Pisces engage in a star-crossed square serving as a poignant reminder of the bitter-sweet melodies of love and loss that resonate within our relationships. Amidst the mutable signs, we will navigate a labyrinth of emotions, unraveling knots of sentiment woven by the threads of time. This emotional odyssey is the swan song of October's Libra South Node sentiments before moving into the brash Cancer-Cap cruxes and Scorpionic fight.
Around October 28th to October 31st, Mars in Cancer, Mercury in Scorpio and Neptune Rx in Pisces form a clandestine pact, breathing life into weary spirits. Rising from the dead, reborn from the ashes of conflict is the emission weaving into the Grand Trine web, each planet in a different Water Sign. Appropriate for Samhain/Halloween/Day of the Dead energy, this Trine blends of intuition, protection and dreams, reaching deep into our souls.
Mercury in Scorpio will be co-present with the Scorpio New Moon and will be a detective regarding intuition and intellect as it relates to taboo topics (sex, trauma, betrayal, politics, taxes, death). Insecurities will need tending but this investigative impulse can assist in getting to the heart of the matters and look at the root of an issue that is festering.
Mars in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn, both at 29 degrees, which challenges the authenticity in our foundations. This opposition can shred at our security ala defensive Crab (in “fall” in the Warrior Planet) against the Death/Transformation of Pluto (Scorpio’s Ruler) while in the last bits of traditional Old Guild Sea-Goat. The irritation in longing for warmth and comfort in the power-dynamics against Pluto’s enforced expectations is an important conversation, noting needed shifts we hope to happen in our communal and intimate lives. So we can being strong in the face of our fears with the upcoming Mars in Retrograde, we must feel this opposition fully with our responsibility to both the private and public.
Final New Moon of Pluto in Cap in our lifetimes wraps up conclusive lessons. Standing our ground against narrow-minded controlling powers that do not prioritize safety has been a nightmarish replay causing consistent concern for folks in the US. Outside of issues affecting identity and financial resources, we are reminded again and again that our existence is under threat everyday, no matter who we are. Translating lofty ideals into tangible reality can be a strong point of Aquarius who await its turn in Pluto. While Capricorn is a hard-worker, the Sign can be harshly realistic but sometimes provides a much-needed reality check. Reconciling with the Debbie Downer parental voice in our mind may be an emotional wound to attend to at the end of Pluto in Cap’s placement.
