What happens when we clear musty methods of so-called problem-solving and instead open the windows to let in the fresh air of Gemini’s wise and wonderful multitudes?
June is blessed with glorious new heights thanks to many planets in Gemini and may possibly be the most positive period of 2024. Aflutter in auspicious aspects, the terrific Twin terrain of June is extra-fortuitous thanks to the newly-stationed Jupiter in Gemini, along with other aspects that create a butterfly effect of possibilities - in creativity! romance! community! - that could soul-sustain us long after the Summer Solstice’s Sign switch.
The first week of June is especially exhilarating: Astrologists everywhere (aka the weathermen of vibes) are excited about this sweet stretch of Gemini synergy with the New Moon’s positive and productive promises of connection and collaboration up ahead. Yet some challenges to be mindful of will lurk overhead and the wild winds of Gemini are easy to get swept away in. Concentration and intention will be key to make the most of this wonderful atmosphere as long as we can be both open-minded AND use discernment.
To take in a bigger picture from a bird’s eye view, utilizing curious observation, is a salve to everything that’s become stagnant. We can learn new tricks no matter how stuck we may seem. Sometimes the solution lies in a simple change of perspective.
June Gemini Season Astrology:
6/3 Mercury entered Gemini. Now in its home planet, Gemini Season is REALLY emphasizing their alignment with the 3rd House of Communication while hanging out in Messenger Mercury! How we process/gather info, balance logic/emotion and share verbal/written expression is pondered during this perfect pairing. Gemini Mercury can get easily side-tracked however! On the same day, Mercury trined Pluto in Aquarius (a moment of influence hopefully used for good and not evil lol), but all-in-all Mercury Gemini makes more space for fun-facts and gleefully falling down rabbit-holes of our favorite interests.
6/4 Mercury in Gemini conjuncts Jupiter in Gemini. Speaking of expansion, the Mercury-Jupiter Conjunction is amazing for team-work and long-term solutions IF we leave nitpicky negativity out of the equation. This conjunction also boosts wider well-being for better outcomes and respectful relationships, which aligns well with the…
6/4 Venus Cazimi in Gemini. A romantic reset with the Gemini Sun, this rare Venus in Gemini Cazimi is an absolutely pleasurable pause. Generally, Gemini Venus is attracted to what makes them think and less about desiring a carbon copy of oneself. We can take a page from the Gemini Venus playbook and appreciate our differences instead of wishing for sameness, choosing empathy and understanding to help us celebrate our diversity rather than divide. No surface level bullshit here.
6/6 New Moon in Gemini. More below - only one hard aspect!
6/8 Venus in Gemini squares Saturn in Pisces. Over-analysis and rash decision alert! A hard come-down from the frolic of the New Moon and astrological build-up. Remember feelings are not always facts, especially when clouded by resentment. Rash decisions will NOT be rewarded. (Luckily, the 6/9 Sun square Saturn is an ointment after this harried thought-loop, band-aiding with delicious imaginative sweetness.)
6/8 Mars in Taurus. Slow, steady placement for Mars, but an anchor during fast-paced Gemini SZN. Beautifully balancing when fairness-focused and abundance-approached as opposed to stubborn stifling. Beware of the tense 6/11 Mars Taurus square Pluto in Aquarius; pick your battles wisely as tradition and innovation inevitably butt heads.
WHAT: Gemini New Moon
WHEN: Thursday June 6th, 2024 8:38 AM EST
THEME: Perceiving and Being Perceived, Exchanging the Experience, Adaptation in Kindness and Consideration
For those of us who have connections with individuals who are not at a place in which communication, and more importantly vulnerability, comes easily, it’s easy to make ASSUMPTIONS. Loads of them, especially if we’re dealing with avoidance, withdrawal or some other barrier to access. After all, we do the best (or so we think) with the information we are presented with, right?! For those who seek to understand, impressions and behaviors become data and are generally hard to ignore when the words aren’t said outright.
Sometimes what we soak in, thinking we’re little data-collectors and not chaotic sponges reflecting our own experiential make-up from less informed times, forgets that the person or situation opposite to us might be going through something circumstantial, environmental or momentary. Accurate assessment, even if there is a pattern, still may not speak to their core energies. We might not even have the know-how to separate what is a rushed ideology on an issue outside of us compared to the realization that others may not move at the same pace as we do, because we think it should be a certain way as is and we judge based on that difference of speed alone.
I am very guilty of thinking I know A LOT about a person or situation when in fact I know very little. Even when I advocate that life will always be about learning and growing and changing our minds when presented with new info, I’m still hard-wired to investigate and digest through some funky and biased filters I’ve not changed since their development at a very small, scared and unprotected age. Not to minimize my inner child or talk shit about myself, but the lessons of this mostly positive Gemini New Moon are ones I really need to hear… and maybe they will resonate with you, too.
We’re all doing the best we can. The Gemini New Moon encourages us to switch it up, saying maybe you can do it DIFFERENTLY, because the definition of insanity is after all doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. And Gemini, who loves data, knows that shit-storm of repetition would NEVER EVER EVER scientifically or mathematically calculate to be a different outcome. It’s rigged already. Try something new.
We are all moving through the motions, some tortoise-tiptoe slowly and others with rapid-rabbit abandon, but the fact remains, we ARE on the path, no matter what the pace. There may be hindrances to both dragging along like the snail or to rushing like the energizer bunny… both can be unhealthy, especially if a unit is attempting to work together yet refuses to understand one another and our different needs in being supported and heard.
As someone who openly shares my impressions, albeit often times having already come to some conclusion of the circumstances, it’s important to remember we can cloud our own assessment by not looking at the bigger picture… and that includes the influence of our own programming. Our past experiences can pollute our logic and though there are patterns to psychology that CAN ADD UP, there are still no two alike people or situations. An absolutely wild map of outcomes are available to us, even between the same two fixed subjects, if we tinker with different variables in the equation.
When we have a need to hold to a VIEWPOINT (not speaking of value-based stances re: violence and harm), we must question if this need is anxiety or control cruxed. For me, in order to know how to navigate a situation, I’ve sometimes forced myself to come to my own conclusion when not able to access clarity. Currently, this impatience or unwillingness to allow possibilities of truth to come thru with safety and security has bit me in the ass. Not the best means of moving forward I’ve come to learn.
With so many planets in Gemini for the beginning of June, I am urging myself to be more open to the non-linear infinities, the opportunity to grow in many directions and see information, which is in constant flux, as valuable but not always concrete, despite the fact that multitudes can create confusion if not downright hypocrisy. At the end of the day, we only can rely on our own internal information and move around the outside world with some intuition and honor of our moral compass, but on the same note, we can also be open to the possibilities through practice of allowing each other to JUST BE, however that is right now, and know we’ve each already lived MANY LIVES and taken on MANY ROLES and they have no bearing on who we can become and how we can love, create and connect.
The Gorgeous Gifts of the Gemini New Moon:
Gemini sends the signal that everything contains multitudes… including you. Despite the archetypal division of the Twins and the pop-cult “two-faced” cliches, Gemini placements are least likely to advocate simplistic “black-and-white" thinking. Gemini as Mutable Air Sign is mind-immersed and ready to consider the many over the 1 or 2 or even 6.
The New Moon is exactly conjunct Venus in Gemini. With harmonious Venusian vibes in alignment, we have an opportunity for financial, romantic or creative renewal - glorious for intention setting this month. Extremely lovely timing for committing to new projects as well!
Mercury in Gemini allows easy flow of communication, especially with the earlier conjunction to Jupiter in Gemini. Jupiter also trines Pluto, helping us define and refine what matters to us. When optimized and optimistically realistic, Gemini Planets are facilitators of dialogue. In addition to Venus, this extra boost from Mercury and Jupiter in Gemini is a gentle nudge that floats us towards fresh intellectual and emotional experimentation that may eventually expand to new beginnings.
The Gemini New Moon asks us how we connect in distress. How can we attune our values in an unknown future? What parts of ourselves or our communities are we avoiding due to fear or pain? How does enmeshment and/or detachment serve us as a whole? How do we process hard facts, especially in the news, without looking away? How can we actually sit with the knowledge of this world instead of brushing it under the rug?
Is the glass half full or half empty? Or neither? Inducing a fine-tune or total haul to our perspectives can be mandatory for real change. We often look at life as feast or famine and our reliance on intuition and imagination can be both a blessing a curse. Question whether or not our spiny tingly sense can aid from being more structured or exploratory or the ways in which we aren’t helped by fatalistic or accusatory outlooks.
The New Moon will square Saturn in Pisces. This sole icky aspect can flair frustration and impatience, highlighting a barrier to getting our way, but not an end, just a delay. Since I personally find deep associations between the macro and micro duality of Gemini, carrying compassion to our inner and outer worlds is a means to peacefully sitting with feelings of discomfort despite the movement happening around us. Information can change; situations are not set in stone. Where we might not have the tools or capacity but plenty of ideas and intentions, or vice versa, we have to honor the reality check of the present and that often times requires adopting patience for the future to reveal as it must in good time.
Combined with the info-exploratory cheer of Gemini Season and the Gemini New Moon, grounding ourselves with compassion and connection, be it to lovers, friends, community or just our own selves, can be a radical act of Love. With no expectations of return or resolve, we can open ourselves to possibilities of hope and happiness we never imagined.
From our creative practices to conflict resolution to how we organize, if not revolutionize, our thoughts, Gemini’s flow reminds us that we don’t have to hold onto approaches that are not working AND we don’t have to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Assess what is still tender and precious to us and what otherwise needs to be refreshed.
This Gemini New Moon is giving Kate Bush’s “The Big Sky (Meteorological Mix)” imho (hence the blog title) and what a better way to celebrate than at the lush new listening room / wine bar Commune with DJ Taradactyl spinning sensual femme vocalists across the decades. With a curated vinyl set of alternative, art-rock and dreampop, we’re looking forward to a night of crafted sips and creative connectivity. Check out additional info and our lovely collaborations for New Moon @ Commune here.
