4/6 FULL PINK MOON IN LIBRA
The Libra Full Pink Moon arrives April 6th, an assembly of Warrior Fire and Justice Air in transmutation for Good or for Bad.
As Spring swirls around us in high-intensity growth, the ever-changing Earth is bestowed with the First Full Moon post-Equinox at 12:34 a.m. EST (Europe and Asia timing falls on April 5th). The Pink Moon, known by the floral “pink moss” of blooms, will be hosted by Libra, an Air sign ruled by Venus, whose planetary powers of partnerships and unions are enhanced by Libra’s love-speak. However, the Sign of The Scales is associated with Justice, mythologized by a same-named Goddess figure in Roman mythology. Reviews on the leverage of power in our lives will be at prominence as the Season unfurls towards Summer.
The Libra Full Moon opposite Aries Season is particularly powerful, speaking to our sense of boundaries, beginnings or endings and, above all, BALANCE, though not without some struggle. We are called to let go of an issue we’ve been procrastinating upon or an old idea we’ve clung to.
In the Sun’s Aries Warrior archetype, we have decisiveness and drive, the stamina for putting plans into action. Libra encourages understanding, though in detriment will waiver meekly in limbo or in health find a way to see all sides but detach in order to follow through with a solid stance. This Libra Full Moon is a reminder to not work against yourself, but rather find the flow, as the details might change, but the nature of a challenge or opportunity remains. In what ways are we accommodating outdated beliefs or deep-seeded fears? Where do we need to assert ourselves in order to move forward? How has injustice worn us down and how can we see the situations in order to find a better strategy to pull through? It is truly a “me vs we” conflict resolution that can apply to the personal, creative, political or our families and relationships.
Another view notes the inaccuracy of Astro cliches, especially of masculine Mars brutally dismissing adversaries and feminine Venus flippantly dillydallying. The Pink Moon may illuminate the urge to engage in harsh cut-offs or dwell in heartfelt ruminations, all the while consequences on the line. Aries can be very emotional and Libra can be very logical. However, the gut-punch reaction of Aries against the careful consideration of Libra sword-plays within this particular cosmic connection. The Libra Full Moon invites us to speak frankly with our insecurities and our anger, learning to respond rather than react. Decisions must be made; it’s just a matter of allowing ourselves a time-out to weigh what will truly work for the greater good.
PASCHAL MOON, LUNAR LORE & SUMERIAN GODDESS INANNA
The first Full Moon after the Spring Equinox is also known as the Paschal Full Moon. It is this Moon Phase that determines the date of Easter and is connected to Passover (“Pascha”), though not exact as the Hebrew Lunar Calendar differs numerically from Gregorian (a great read on this here). Easter is always the Sunday after the Paschal Moon and in 2023, Easter will be on Sunday April 9th.
There is some irony to the Christo-fascist agenda using the Moon Phases in this way, especially when some find Easter decor to be totally Satanic.

Much of the elements re: Eostre, Ostara and Spring Equinox have been tied into the bunnies, baskets and eggs as discussed in our latest Muse. Furthermore, the Cosmic Egg has deeper mythological symbolism than holiday decor. One of the earliest Goddesses, Inanna and/or Ishtar acutely ties into Spring with the powers of the Moon AND the planet Venus. Not of Earth, Inanna’s immaculate conception occurred in outer space. She was encapsulated in a giant egg, arriving with a big splash into the Euphrates River. A gift from Mother Moon, her divine delivery is one of many enchanted exhibitions in the parallels between menstrual cycles and the moon. Inanna’s human-esqe reveal was said to happen a couple of weeks after the Spring Equinox during the first Full Moon. Some scholars claim the Paschal Full Moon was a full-circle attempt to erase Inanna’s association.
As a Babylonian proto-Aphrodite archetype, amongst Inanna’s many lays was main loverboy Tammuz, a shepherd god who died for her love. Intense oppositions to the influence of her iconography raged, mostly due to the representation of her sexual freedom. Slut-shameful warnings followed in later texts: “The fickle goddess treated her passing lovers cruelly and the unhappy wretches usually paid dearly for the favors heaped on them”, “animals enslaved by love”, but such slander distracted from the greater cosmic nature of Inanna’s cunty career. She is still well known today for her warrior stance in Epic of Gilgamesh, immortalized in the text for Descent of Inanna, a proto-Persephone/Hades type of tale about injustice, and is indeed one of the oldest representations of an all-encompassing Goddess.
We love bunny symbolism always but especially lovely during this Lunar Year of The Rabbit. Quite an extra Easter treat for 2023!
ASTRO ARCHETYPE: ARIES
Our Femme Film Astro Archetype notes not just the Sun Sign but the undercurrent of interaction it has with its opposite astrological energy + that of the Full Moon.
Murda Hill’s recent FFAA nods to Aries’ fire, fueled by Libra’s windy tendrils of love and justice amidst impossible situations. The early 2000’s were graced with Chinese period-piece-meets-martial-art masterpieces, heralded for their advancements in action film special effects. Notably, the debut of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon made a huge impact internationally, winning the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, starring main characters played by Zhang Ziyi and recent 2023 Oscar Best Actress winner Michelle Yeoh (who has a Libra Moon). Similar films like 2002’s Hero, 2004’s House of Flying Daggers and 2006’s Curse of the Golden Flower were also directed by Zhang Yimou.
