Barreling toward the Spring Equinox and Eclipse Season, March’s Pisces period puts dreams on the pedestal, pulling for renewal at the forefront during this fantastical transitionary time.
The Pisces Cazimi around February 28 + 29th, emphasizing Mercury and Saturn, respectively rows into ethereal enamoré, an affectionate alchemy of manifesting passion into reality. Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces on March 8 is a whimsical whisper to listen to our imaginations and honor all it may bring. With so many planets in Pisces, March opens to an Oracle, a potent opportunity to process values and visions. March is the last month unblemished by Retrogrades before the Vernal Mercury backspin in April and is preparing us for what’s ahead.
Full of poetry and play, the rest of Pisces Season proposes tapping into our spiritual and creative powers to find a fresh flow, especially useful before the Zodiac Year starts again on the Spring Equinox. With Venus entering Pisces on March 11, we may find ourselves swept away with romance. The glistening bursting forth of flora is in itself a lush chaos, intoxicating and drunken with libido-return relevance (Spring “fever” is scientifically proven after all). Dramatists and songsmiths mused on Springtime lust and lore in different forms of worship for centuries, a practice we will be honoring.
2024’s first Symposium, OSTARA, will be held on 3/21; host Jay Morris will be releasing a poetry chapbook, limerence breaker, at this event. More info here.
Ruled by Neptune AND Jupiter, Pisces is the 12th and Final Sign of the Zodiac year. Thus, the Fish encompass the 12th House of Spirituality and the Unconscious.
Pisces perfects empathy and collective compassion, the highest optimization of humanity in Astro form after Aquarius Season. The Zodiac’s karmic loop ends with this supportive and all-seeing Sign, an archetype that is honestly hard to define. What always comes to mind for me is a return to innocence, much like the course of Childhood and the loop back to wonder in Old Age, a concept that additionally reflects the Virgo-Pisces Axis.
Oozing with unfiltered emotion and wishful thinking, Murda Hill featured a trio of enchanting European 1960’s movies for our Pisces Reel; I wrote further about the films’ symbolism for Femme & the Fairytale. Pisces’ challenging components of vulnerability is easily seen as impressionable and lackadaisical in the capitalist modernization of Pisces in pop cult astrology… BUT their penchant for daydreaming ignores The Fishes’ origins as The Oracle, “often depicted as child-like figures with the knowledge of ancient wisdom”, conjuring NeverEnding Story’s Childlike-Empress (though even she seemingly sat in her heavenly castle all day to philosophize).
We’ve talked before about Pisces and “inner child” work, a subject we feel is never a one and done. Our “inner child” needs a periodical check-in; Pisces energy is perfect for soothing us when we are sad and scared, despite the Sign’s tendency to sometimes float into these very attributes. Taking a small step back from expectations and honing in on the kid you once were, who was imaginative and endearing, who created for the sake of creating and connected with others along the way, is encouraged during Pisces Season AND the Pisces New Moon. This practice also helps support us in a difficult World.
WHAT: Pisces New Super Moon
WHEN: Sunday March 10, 2024 5 AM EST
THEME: Empathy, Encouragement, Dreams
The closest Super Moon of 2024, humanity will deeply feel this Pisces lunation. Though it may drag up anxiety, uncertain emotion, it also encourages embracing rest. The heavy haze we exist in as a society seemingly pollutes any shreds of positivity we can hold onto. With a barrage of tragedies to view daily from our phones, the unethical complicity of the United States haunts with its classist violence, genocidal operations and the military industrial complex terrorizing at home and abroad.
Repeated traumatic news, along with information suppression, is just one heavy-burdened after-effect associated with hyper-vigilance. We are living in one disaster after another, collectively approaching or already incorporating an End Times mindset. All the more need for Hope, all the more need for Kindness, even in the face of all-powerful wreckage, brutality and control. If this is the End, we may as well choose Love. Pisces rejects oppressive options of building on the backs of the poor as “better”. Pisces is Peace, but Pisces will not sit with violence and intimidation as acceptable.
2024’s Pisces New Moon may be perfect to clear the cumbersome clouds of despair in our personal inner life and external world view. Not losing sight of the Truth, no delusions, no denial, but reviving hope for the health and happiness of all living things.
Renewal for the Pisces New Super Moon:
A bounce back from the Virgo Full Moon, in Pisces’ artistic and sensitive gifts, the New Super Moon can help us remember our core compassion, nurturing seeds to just to survive but thrive. Our child-like creative selves, not pressured by criticism, has room not only to grow but to give. When we give joy and gentleness to ourselves, we make room for joy to spread to others. We find solutions in pondering possibilities when we aren’t burdened by productivity. The Pisces New Moon whispers from the pond to be helpful by allowing ourselves to be still and reflect.
There is power in vulnerability, especially when we are open to seeing every angle and processing it in a precious manner. Let this New Moon in Pisces be a nexus of personable persistence for the “right” reasons, whatever that means to you. Gently empowering us to restore energy towards divine destinations, Pisces movement is not to be seen as “passive” but a practice in deconstructing autopilot influences to rediscover the heart of our ethics.
Choose hope, not despair. It’s impossible to ignore the horrors of the World’s sick reality unfolding around us. We can not organize if we do not allow ourselves to feel our grief, then our gratitude and, if managed, reconnect to the golden threads of goodness that existed in us all when we were small… conjuring the purity of our past, before competition, before greed, before destruction… as a motivation to build a new world, to fight for the innocent. We have to imagine what ideal Love and Care looks like for all. We have to practice it in small ways every day: with ourselves, our families, our friends, our community.
Mercury enters Aries the day before the New Moon, giving us extra conviction to hold hope in our hearts moving forward AND to find our voice. To do so, we must clear the stagnation in our souls and begin again with clarity and compassion. Our enthusiasm for change and care may get the extra oomph it’s craving before the New Zodiac Year.
"Our energy is our responsibility, and how we give it away becomes a conscious choice as we step into empowerment. And yes, it is possible to restore the fragments of self we gave away before we came to this awareness. You have the power to own your energy and choose where you direct it," wise words from Izzy Ivy’s Oracle cards and a warning to not misuse Mercury Aries energy, lest we burn ourselves out.
