Change is all around us here in the Northern Hemisphere!
We just passed the threshold of the Summer Solstice yesterday when the fae came out to play on the longest day of the year. There is something magical about Summer evenings and the sun’s warm welcome is not only known for its fun frolickings and lazy luxuries; the Sun is an integral part of giving energy to our Earth. As such, this timeframe is often utilized in both celebration and hopes of abundance for the remainder of the year.
As a pagan holiday, the Summer Solstice is known as Litha, generally referred to as Midsummer. Honoring the Sun God, celebrations often include bonfires, gathering of wild herbs, altars of flowers and feasting on an abundance of fresh produce. Though Fire and Earth are focal, Water is rarely an afterthought. Prayers regarding non-destructive rainfall are also prominent with deep hope of successful crops and to avoid drought and/or wildfires. Summer holds the harvest as the sun sets into Autumn, a transition that is highly important for agriculture.
Cardinal Cancer entered the chat alongside its marker of Summer Solstice. We see Cancer Season as being very ripe for creativity, connection, centering and a lil bit of introspection. These markers of time have ALWAYS been integral for humanity’s honor of the Seasons. As Summer Solstice is midyear, it’s natural to ponder where we’ve been and where we’re going.
Cancer tends to be associated with Goddess-like la-la-love. She is heartfelt and warm, sensual and spicy, a perfect Astro icon of Summer. We will be talking more about Cancer Season and how it connects with its polarity for the Capricorn Full Moon in July, but we will soon unveil quite a lot of Cancer-related content on our Instagram.
