Emerging from the Spring Eclipse Season, we have to admit, we’re a bit depressed! We feel beaten down, eternally exhausted, lackluster. And as expressed in our last Muse, Eclipse Season can be very trying for mental health and addiction, both issues that have made themselves loudly known in our personal circles as predicted. Like a loop, Eclipse Season drags out the Shadow Side. Where many have been burning the candle at both ends, stress and grief seeps into our physical wellness at an alarming rate, inevitably calling for a timeout. Luckily, Jupiter in Taurus and the Taurus New Moon offer a return to nourishment. We are read to clean the slate and prance into a period of potential clarity with Gemini Season adding sparkle to the year ahead.
5/16 JUPITER IN TAURUS
On May 16th, the Planet of Luck and Fortune departed from Aries and stepped into Taurus.
Jupiter shall sit on the luxurious Taurus throne until May 25, 2024, making this shift a major event affecting the entire year ahead. Where Jupiter’s influence is felt throughout our societal and personal support systems, it is most known for its “expansive” qualities. In planetary magic, Jupiter is often utilized for business and monetary wealth but can mean so much more to those focused on healing, wellness, community, and culture. Without leaning into the typical capitalist cliches, Jupiter can bring beneficial blessings, offering growth and abundance in many arenas. Teaming with the Earth Sign of Taurus, Jupiter’s stay may find itself to be a gracious and giving host where everyone is invited to the table, the lush garden providing food, friendship and frolic for all.
Jupiter in Taurus has potential to emphasize patience, being present with our thoughts, in tune with our bodies and protective of bodily autonomy. We may find ourselves to be more focused on strengthening foundations with a renewed responsibility towards health and home. Additionally, Jupiter will experience a square with Mars on May 22 “creating tension between our inner warrior and our inner optimist”; conjunct the North Node on June 1st “strengthening our desire to make contact with like-minded people or with those who can help push us in the direction of growth and improvement”; and a square with Venus on June 11.
By the time we reach tomorrow’s Taurus New Moon, the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus, and the North Node will all be in the Earth Sign of Taurus for a blissful moment of grounding and growth.
5/19-20 NEW MOON IN TAURUS
On May 19 & 20, the Black New Moon in Taurus offers re-balance after the Spring Eclipse Season and the end of Mercury Retrograde.
As a sensual Venus-ruled sign, Taurus’ last fanciful frolic on Venus’ Day of Friday induces a desire to connect to the physical realm. Literally recharging through rest or rousing the senses in lush playful exploration with a Taurean slow and steady groove serves the Greater Good. In a time of increased hatred towards / political repression of wombies and queer people, sexuality and identity are exceptionally sacred. To live in a world in which we can express ourselves freely without punishment shouldn’t be an ideal; it should be a basic right. While we face severance of roots to bodily autonomy and security, the radical act of reclaiming the sacred body goes beyond basic pleasure. Root and sacral chakra work is highly recommended for this Taurus New Moon.
Standing our ground against narrow-minded controlling powers that do not prioritize safety has been a nightmarish replay causing consistent concern for folks in the US. Outside of issues affecting identity and freedom of choice, we are reminded again and again that our existence is under threat everyday, no matter who we are. This Taurus New Moon coaxes us to be kind to ourselves and others in this shaky society that keeps upholding so much uncertainty in our lives. Simply being in touch with our body-mind connection after additional astrological chaos is incredibly important, but especially helpful as a tool of resistance and resilience.
Combined with the upcoming info-exploratory cheer of Gemini Season, grounding ourselves with compassion and connection, be it to lovers, friends, community or just our own selves, can be a radical act of Love.
Due to the double Aries New Moons, the New Moon has switched from beginning of Zodiac Season to end. Taurus Season signs off after its New Moon on May 19-20 and the Sun moves into Gemini on May 21.
5/21 - 6/21 GEMINI SEASON
Dualism is prominent throughout the Zodiac but Gemini may be the strongest astrological archetype representing Two. Symbolized by The Twins, in Greek mythology Castor and Pollux were a metaphor for “a dual-natured personality: sometimes contradictory but also adaptable with the capability to view life from different angles.”
With stereotypes ranging from two-faced devil’s advocates to supreme social butterflies, Gemini is burdened with a perception for being flippant or to-and-fro, no matter how positive or negative the connotation. Yet as adventurous thinkers who LOVE to research and soak in information, this Mutable Air sign should be viewed for their multifaceted wisdom… AND their ability to make it fun. Especially when optimized and optimistically realistic, Gemini is a great connector and facilitator of dialogue, hardly an advocate of “black-and-white thinking”. Their ability to move through the world and situations with spiny tingly senses of both intellect and emotion is an amazing asset. As the gift of gab lies in Gemini’s domain, their social butterfly interaction and intellectual exploration demands some level of balance.
Aside from Gemini Season starting on May 21, the Sun will trine Pluto in Aquarius AND sextile Mars in Leo the same day. Right out of the gate, Gemini Season has us asking important questions, looking deeper, theorizing on mysteries and searching for facts. This keen curiosity may be very refreshing as we find ourselves becoming more self-confident - a cornerstone of Gemini energy! Approaching mid-year and Summer for the Northern Hemisphere, Gemini brings an injection of much needed electricity, to taste the sunshine, embrace the gift of gab, renew our interests and revive our social networks. Enjoy our GEMINI PLAYLIST to catch the mood of the season!
