Knuck If You Buck vs. Soft-Shelled Sentimentalist
Cancer Season & the Capricorn Supermoon Cadence

Summer is gaining in its simmer and throughout July swirls a whirlpool of Astrological happenings, mostly in the element of Water.
On the last day of June, a Retrograde began for Neptune. In the Sign of Pisces since 2011 and ending in 2026, Neptune usually backspins for 5 months every year. Neptune Rx can be a big wake-up call, bearing pressure that can lead back to vices OR covering us in its trademark fog of delulu as we previously reviewed. Earlier in effect, Saturn Retrograde in Pisces began its chaotic deep dive, churning lessons from underneath that shall be revealed over time. Dreamy Neptune and Karmic Saturn are incredibly different in feeling and purpose, fantasy vs reality in the planetary magick and astrological universe. To have these opposite realms in Retrograde yet both within the free-flowing spiritual Sign of Pisces creates a euphoric mist vs. shock antic spectacle, a bit of a tsunami to our emotional life.
However, Cancer’s entrance on Summer Solstice offered us a time frame of grounded protection while floating through the sun-kissed daze of a new Season. In instability, Cancer risks being too patient and forgiving or so fixated on desires it turns into possessiveness. We play on this Cancer stereotype in our Femme Film Astro Archetype featuring Anna Biller’s The Love Witch. Today’s Capricorn Supermoon furthers our focus at the midpoint of the year… not a fun Full Moon, but much needed to stay on path.
7/3 CAPRICORN SUPERMOON
As with any Full Moon, this Capricorn Buck Moon brims with juxtaposition to the Sun Season, electrified with an extra edge as the first Supermoon of 2023.
Ideally, each Full Moon vs. Sun Season is a reflection, a blueprint on how to harmonize and integrate balance between two Astrological opposites. Capricorn and Cancer may sit at different ends of the table but their foundational values are core to communal security. Their “polarity” is parental in nature. As Father and Mother roles in the Zodiac, their magnetic centered stance is a sought guidance in their unique arenas of public and private life. They can both be moody or jovial, sarcastic or serious, depending on the day, but they are each set in their ways more often than not. Capricorn and Cancer have so much in common that may not meet the eye due to their communication styles and interests, but their values tend to similarly altruistic and dead-set on acquiring stability.
Capricorn and Cancer both are interested in building what they feel will create the best life for themselves and others, thus they put much effort into getting what they want. Capricorn’s rock-hard mentality, work ethic and reputation is passionate about pursuit, but being ruled by strict Saturn now in Rx, today’s Full Moon may be particularly icky for Water Signs’ vulnerability or Air Signs’ floatiness. The Capricorn Full Moon can mean business for those of us who don’t really have a set plan or direction; it will also emphasize where we need to draw a line or pick a lane. This mid-year reality check is not be the positive, tidy and neat trajectory Capricorn would most wish for but it is an exploration of status quo we cannot afford to avoid.
Afterall, the “Knuck If You Buck” Supermoon in Capricorn tends to rile up responsibility woes, but matched with Saturn Retrograde’s harsh truths, it may be exactly what is needed. Like the saying goes, check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Mayhaps our plates are too full. Maybe we don’t even have a real idea of what’s on our plate. Maybe we are avoiding adding something to our plate that we KNOW we need to because it means we have to take something we REALLY LIKE off of the menu. But to be REALISTIC about imbalances is the best way to maneuver Astro Moon energies such as these.
This Supermoon is empowered by Jupiter in Taurus, encouraging us to slow down and take a step back, something Capricorn's vigorous mountain-climbing ambitions are bolstered by. Capricorn is methodical and intentional, though persistent. We may not be wise to rush, but we need to get serious re: how to be good to ourselves and others remains, the center of this Capricorn Supermoon, even if it asks us to forgo something we’ve been tied to.
Either way, it’s prime to consider that Father Time only has so much to give.
As discouraging as the reality may be, we’ve an opportunity to see what resources are around us, pinpoint what nourishment we lack and think about how we can get it in our daily diet. In Capricorn’s ambitions and achievement, let us additionally be honest about where our goals are mostly just ego - or even parental-wound - driven, instead of born from our true selves.
