THE PAST IS A MAP.
Hold on to your hats for the remainder of Sagittarius SZN! We’re galloping towards the end of 2023 and it's been a rough ride, folks.
In a horrific Autumn (or Southern Hemi Spring, depending), the fatigue and/or anxiety we’ve experienced has manifested as harbored hypervigilance. We’re now in the most expensive, overactive month continuing to witness gruesome global grief - not great circumstances to sit within as we head towards the New Year. As we repeat often, it is VERY difficult to move forward without looking behind. We emphasize this frequently not just as a means to connect the dots between New and Full Moons but to LEARN FROM the emotional excavation of the Eclipses.
Where the 2023 Autumn Eclipse Season brought intensive informational processing, pushback reactions and habits and perhaps some interpersonal conflict (raises hands), it will undoubtedly lead to solutions, if not just a stance. Caught between 2 different Node Cycles, Eclipse Season emphasized the hardship of dwelling in and learning to ACCEPT issues around prideful holds on resources (Taurus Lunar Eclipse + past North Node) and UNLEARNING the nostalgia in how we once found connection and comfort previously (Libra Solar Eclipse + current South Node).
Though the last November New Moon in Scorpio ~ not an eclipse but in flavor of the past axis ~ shrouded in scrambled signals, we at least attempted to make sense of the aftereffects. Furrowed with frustration and lacking New Moon intentions, Scorpio Season’s wallow may’ve unearthed a shimmering vein of determination in the darkness, clearly communicating that we actually need to deal with the disconnect between our wants and needs.
Essentially, Eclipses close doors forever, forcing us to face an era of change. Eclipse Season urged us to rethink our views on assets and approaches - both for the physical (Taurus) and the emotional (Libra).
THE FUTURE IS FAST.
Compromising with these cosmic secrets sooner rather than later helps us embrace the innovation and experimentation of the Aries North Node and the old emotional (and beauty-lens) of the Libra South Node for 2024. Looking ahead, a touch of End-of-Zodiac Pisces will be present, not exactly on the Node Axis and a rarity. Note that the Spring and Autumn Eclipse information may be different for your time zone.
Penumbral LUNAR Eclipse March 25, 2024, at 3:00 AM, at 5° Libra
Total SOLAR Eclipse April 8, 2024, at 2:21 PM, at 19° Aries
Partial LUNAR Eclipse September 17, 2024, at 10:34 PM, at 25° Pisces
Annular SOLAR Eclipse October 2, 2024, at 2:49 PM, at 10° Libra
ALMOST a LUNAR Eclipse October 17, 2024 - but not - 24° Aries
Integrating recent Eclipse Seasonings prepares us for the Fiery Aries spark and lets us “let go” of Libra’s linger. 2023’s last Sagittarius New Moon is perfect to ponder our next path: where we want to go, how we want to get there and more importantly, in what way we want to move in the world.
12/12 SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON
As a major Sagittarius theme, The Pursuit of Truth presses like a knife to our throats.
Information as a battleground, or misinformation and gaslighting as an enemy, only exacerbated by the government… Whether Trump or Biden, in less than a year we will be urged to vote for the “lesser of 2 evils”…. AGAIN. The use of language - whether wording &/or skewing of facts - are weaponized to manipulate populations. The longer we’ve savored social media outlets as a source of community and underground exposure, the more we see abuse of power brushed under the rug. Sag Season HATES suppression; however, our cosmic environment on a longer term scale has predicted the collective tension we will continue to experience:
Uranus in Taurus beginning in 2019, just before the pandemic, is a stubborn dance between sustainability and capitalism, lasting until 2026.
Dreamy and sometimes delusional Neptune is at home in Pisces and has been since 2011, but will change over to impulsive Aries in 2025.
Pluto’s disruptive dance between traditional Old Guild Capricorn and rebellious revolutionary Aquarius will finally concentrate more in the latter until 2044, likely pushing collective change but challenging our use, attachment and behaviors to technology, specifically social media.
Unfortunately, those who receive reports from mainstream media will not have the privilege of seeing the bigger picture. While the social media connected can’t seem to escape constantly seeing unsavory attacks and militant control of the people, heads of state keep pushing their narrative to news channels. The recent vote for a ceasefire was blocked AGAIN by the United States. We have been watching a genocide unfold on our screens for over 2 months now, closing out 2023 with grief, disassociation, denial, helplessness, pain. Whatever road chosen (and you do chose), you are up against Knowledge. How Sagittarius Season is the facts vs. feelings fury?!
Furthermore, the most recent Full Moon in Gemini fumbled with the fallout of Eclipse Season, additionally attempting to pick-up the pieces from Scorpio’s New Moon mania. The over-intellectualizing anxiety of Gemini AND Sagittarius alike are OBSESSED with the mystery, rushing to problem-solve, placating a need to “know” over allowing a situation to unfold and grow.
The Sagittarius New Moon next Tuesday December 12 is hungry to decide.
This is particularly dangerous for the interpersonal, though the need of boundaries and back-up plans during the Holidaze is still important. Devising definitions through scanty shreds of information leads to half or doctored Truths: the understanding we extract in order to placate our need to know might not be whole or wholesome, only serving self-preservation instead of empathy. Forced conclusions from playing Negative Nancy Drew are not going to serve a reality check later on when the information shifts. It certainly will not help us hold a positive outlook if we’re planning in advance to see a situation with defensiveness or objectification.
But we do know this: delaying or being in denial of KNOWING has passed its expiration date, darlings.
The long drawn-out game of fear, vulnerability and issues that influence indecision and immobility is an act of thwarting the Future. We can not change each poorly influenced mind who has fallen prey to bigotry but we can explore ourselves. The good fight takes patience and kindness and, above all, honesty with oneself. Our willingness to change our minds when new information is presented is to be truly open to progress.
Let Sagittarius’ sophisticated spark for intellectual AND emotional adventure be a bright guide as we navigate “unprecedented times”. Time to unpack the Past and no longer let it hold us back. And though the speed may fluctuate and the need for rest WILL press, endless possibilities are before us… if we just keep going. Our hearts, able to feel the depths of sorrow, is a gift, not a curse. And though it may hurt, pain can become strength and motivate REAL CHANGE… for our world, our community, ourselves.
Speaking of Sagittarius, we will be celebrating our SYMPOSIUM host Catherine Rush at our Winter Solstice poetry party on 12/21. Catherine is not just a contributor to many of our zines, but a major connector for many recipes in our Concoctionary cookbook collection and past 4-part ATL/ATH music comp Culottes, both to benefit Atlanta Solidarity Fund. Catherine’s Solar Return is the last day of Sagittarius Season and we will be so excited to celebrate her with fellow host Jay Morris at SYMPOSIUM: SOLSTICE the following day. Poets and performers were announced this week with visuals by OK Motion Club and installations by Almost Gaia at Argosy EAV.
We also have a major gift for our supporters from afar, especially helpful for the rest of December & 2024.
The revised Mercury Rx Survival Guide will be available to paid Substack subscribers on the start of the backspin, Wednesday (Mercury’s Day) December 13.
We will also include a paid-only blog on the specificity of the soon Winter Mercury Retrograde. Our Patrons will receive early access to both the book and blog tomorrow Sunday December 10th. Not only does Let’s Get Retrograde cover Mercury Signs, the shadow period and breakdown of the many arenas to be aware of in the backspin, the book has much to say regarding organization, awareness and the Magick of the Mundane that can be applied to “New Year, New Me” vibes on our mind as of late.
