Taurus Season is here, treating us to vernal Venusian vibes, feasting upon the slow and sweet honey synergy of Spring.
Beginning on Friday/Venus Day, the Fixed Earth Bull frolicked into its Season, adorning the Astro Realm with regal ruler-ship over all things fanciful AND fruitful. After an intense April Aries Season featuring a Solar Eclipse on the Aries-Libra Axis and Mercury Retrograde in Aries, we’re slowing our roll and getting grounded again. The lavish lust and luxury of Taurus Season lulls the pace, though in no way dulls in flavor, savoring a tasteful tone and texture compared to the rush hour of the Fiery Ram. Though Aries Venus scorches until April 29th and Aries Mars rages onward starting April 30th, Taurus Season tantalizes with thoughtful treats while atop the Sun throne.
We knew the mood would be ripe to reprint The Sensual World for this Venus-frilled time frame, including more materials of the magickal and romantic... Our exclusive Venusian offering includes a spicy concoction in collaboration with Cicatrixia: an anointing oil and love spell inspired by the Hesperides, guardians of Goddess Hera’s golden apple orchard. These garden nymphs have a rich mythological associated with many ancient Grecian tales (and similarities to the Garden of Eden). Orders also include Cicatrixia’s aphrodisiac Love Tea, spell scroll, ritual candle and rose quartz heart charm. ATL-area orders will also be available for pickup at our Beltane event on 5/1.
Focusing on pleasure and play, Taurus Season gleams with gorgeous Goddess exuberance.
As the weather warms in the Northern Hemisphere, embracing the down-to-Earth delights of abundance and blossoming beauty, it’s extremely appropriate that Taurus Season starts nears 4/20 (AND we VERY MUCH support canna-advocacy and decriminalization of marijuana) plus Earth Day on 4/22 (everyday is Earth Day to us and the dissonance in honoring Earth Magick as the world warms TOO QUICKLY weighs heavy on our hearts). Taurus IS associated with all things munchies and Mother Nature for a reason but its archetype is not one to undermine. When Taurus moves, however slowly, its values-focused spirit is always centered. As a Sign connected to resources, protection of the home (including our Planet Earth) and an immovable force of preservation, Taurus stands stands strong in its beliefs.
4/20 Jupiter-Uranus Conjunction
A major 2024 Astrology highlight happens at the beginning of Taurus Season: Jupiter (the Planet of Growth) and Uranus (the Planet of Innovation) conjunct at 21º of Taurus on 4/20. Expecting the unexpected tends to be the only trend for rebellious Uranus, a catalyst for economic roller-coasters and environmental shake-ups since its entrance in Taurus in 2018. While Jupiter and Uranus conjunct every 14 years, their previous tango in Taurus was a whopping 83 years ago!! These rare same Sign meetups between mammoth movers and shaker planets rids outdated ideas around sustainability, especially where Taurus is concerned. Regarding Taurus’ consistency and commitment, all of the Fixed Signs may find their lives changing dramatically after this turning point, though not without growing pains.
Those stubborn about “going with the flow” especially regarding what is needed to move forward may be rudely awakened, but this conjunction can bring good news once digested. The planets separate May 12th, giving ample time to gauge what opportunities lie ahead with the Taurus planetary energies percolating. Serious global shifts from financial fireworks to climate change action, along with personal progressions like rearranged romantic resources to creative career surges at home, this Jupiter-Uranus Conjunction wants us to make the most of this magickal moment by having the maturity of intention. When we allow ourselves to widen our perspective to the ways we responsibly connect to each other and our environments, Jupiter’s expansive horizons show us how to strengthen our will and have hope as we go forth.
WHAT: Scorpio Full Moon
WHEN: Tuesday April 23, 2024 7:49 PM EST
THEME: Shifts in Self-Discovery & Sexuality
One of the last Eclipses of Autumn 2023 was in the Sign of Scorpio, an after-effect of the previous Axis. Though we’re now in the grips of Aries-Libra, the Taurus-Scorpio Nodal Cycle had many lessons for us regarding the balance between the tangible and the spiritual, the wants and the needs of the Physical World vs. our Inner Psyche, themes around the feast vs. the famine and, even deeper, the hardships of Life and Death. Wrapping up Spring 2024’s Eclipse Season, the upcoming Scorpio Full Moon leans less on survival mode mischief and pirouettes into its playful duality with Taurus Season.
Seductions of the Scorpio Pink Moon:
The April Full Moon wants us to truly accept and love ourselves - and “fuck off” to everything around us that does not support such! This is not a one-and-done activity but a long hard process, looking to the Past to define where we have been denied safety of Self. Programming in early childhood development often made us feel ashamed, whether it was thru social, generational, religious or parenting wounds. How we’ve tried to fit in to be accepted or be quiet to receive love is a sore subject that places a spotlight on where we need to show up for ourselves the strongest (this is especially true for our queer friends!). While this practice can bring up pain, untangling the web that naysayers in our Past trapped us within is shadow work that rewards. When we reiterate that we all deserve the freedom to be ourselves and reject guilt and control, we advocate for the survival of not just our true selves, but the freedom for others as well.
A T-square to Pluto in Aquarius creates a slightly scary Scorpio Full Moon, at least according to pop astrology’s ideologies. This 1st hard aspect to the Water-Bearer’s place in the Planet of the Underworld IS tricky. As Pluto rules Scorpio and Aquarius is also a Fixed Sign, yes, there could be big emotional evacuations around what we want to let go of, but are stubborn about (another Taurus trait) and knowing Scorpio this could be about an attachment to a deep-seeded wound. Realistically, this is an opportunity to shed our skins, anew for adventures that coax us out of our comfort zones yet open up fresh and exciting arenas, especially around our aspirations and expressions. Traditional role-playing and societal standards hold no power with this radical T-square to the Sun and the Moon. Unapologetic self-acceptance (as long as we are not harming others) is transformative!
When Scorpio is not a devilish detective or femme fatale, unearthing resentments and dressing wounds, there’s a pastime of pure exploration that fills Scorpio’s crystal cavern with trinkets of genius, emotional intelligence and intentional ideas. Scorpio has an eye for business, pleasure and the mingle of the two… this Full Moon asks us how we want to move in the world, where we stand on status and how to hold our individualistic spirits while making ends meet or entering social circles.
Sexuality is extremely important to the Taurus-Scorpio Axis. Taurus Season asks us to be present in the body while Scorpio shines in this Full Moon moment with intimate illumination. Through the Scorpion’s awareness, the Pink Moon empowers us to embrace a welcoming to the growing connectivity of sensual experience in all things. Our perspective on religious and government control over our bodies may be worth journaling about. Delving into the concept of “sacred sexuality” is another mind-expanding study for this lunation (check out the books of Gabriela Herstik and the Love, Lust and Magick podcast).
Emotional reasons behind the destructive habits that harm our body or disrespect our resources are highlighted. Taurus’ value-based nourishment meets Scorpio’s get-real examination re: holding stagnation in our bodies and routines. There are many ways to be stuck in a loop of self-harm (physical toxicity like addiction to overspending, lack of care for our home and selves, etc). Excess that has a root in wallowing, low self-worth and distraction may need to be reviewed before we move forward with our Future selves and this Full Moon helps us get unstuck.
Energy is a precious resource and we are not giving that away for free. Same with access, Scorpio is protective of their space and Taurus is discerning with who they share their feelings with. This may feel like a stingy side of the Axis but in reality, we have limited time in this Life. Even as we work through better expression, detachment from stigma and so on, it’s important to know that the energy and access we allow to others (and that we give out, for accountability!) has the ability to pollute. The solution to pollution is dilution in this case. Asking for clarity, advocating for pure intentions and interpreting what’s best for us goes along way in our journey to becoming happier and healthier people.
As we exit Aries Mercury Retrograde on 4/25 and come down from the Pink Moon’s pull, as always we must still take care to find center into of chaos. Through the shadow period into early May, many of us may still be self-regulating due to the aftereffects of Spring Eclipse Season. Recovery mode reveals how doubt has clouded our core, how the fires of Aries Season’s emphasis with Chiron have stoked wild wounds. Treating ourselves is the order of the day, but with shrewd decision-making, we have the ability to choose wisely going forth… and freedom of choice is a beautiful thing indeed!
